City & Guilds 6150 Working in Confined Spaces

Anyone required to undertake work of any nature in a confined space is at risk of serious injury as a result of hazardous substances and conditions. The confined spaces regulations (1997) makes candidates aware of the serious implications involved in working in a confined space. The qualification is particularly relevant to those who are employed with multi-utility contractors or directly with gas, water, electricity, mining, drain cleaning and construction companies.



What qualifications are available?

There are 12 qualifications available as follows:

  • Level 2 Award in Working in Low Risk Confined Spaces: Water (6150-01)
  • Level 2 Award in Working in Medium Risk Confined Spaces (Top Man) (Entrant): Water (6150-02)
  • Level 2 Award in Working on Medium Risk Confined Spaces (Top Man) (Non Entrant): Water (6150-06)

  • Level 2 Award in Working in Low Risk Confined Spaces (6150-51)
  • Level 2 Award in Working in Medium Risk Confined Spaces (Top Man) (Entrant) (6150-52)
  • Level 2 Award in Working on Medium Risk Confined Spaces (Top Man) (Non Entrant) (6150-56)

Are there any entry requirements?

There are no entry requirements to be able to undertake the Low, Medium and High Risk awards.

In order to undertake the Emergency Rescue and Recovery of Casualties award (6150-05/55), you must hold the award in High Risk Confined Spaces (6150-03/53).

How will I be trained and assessed?

Using our simulated confined space equipment you will be taught via a combination of practical and theoretical methods. You will look at areas such as classifications of a confined space, risk assessment, equipment and procedures.You will be assessed by a practical observation and written assessment.

This will depend on the award you are undertaking along with your previous experience and knowledge.
